Knowledge Base: How do I donate something to Kashless.org?

The Kashless office gets calls every day from people interested in "donating" items they don't need anymore to Kashless.org. We are always happy to speak with people who are interested in promoting re-use and would like to do it through Kashless.

The idea behind Kashless.org is peer-to-peer giving. This means that if you have something to give away, you post it yourself on Kashless.org and then other people browse the site, looking for free stuff that they would like to take. When you post an item on the site, it will eventually be given directly to somebody who sees that item and wants to take it off of your hands. All of the communication will be done directly between you and the people who contact you because of their interest in your item.

The advantages of peer-to-peer free giving is that you can be 100% certain that the items you are donating are going directly to somebody who needs and wants them. (And believe us, no matter what it is you're trying to get rid of there is probably somebody out there who really wants it.)

Because we are focused around the idea of directly connecting people who want to give something away with people who are in need of that thing, we run differently from places like Goodwill or St. Vincent de Paul. This means that we do not do item pick up, and we do not have a location where you can drop your items off.

If you are interested in donating an item to Kashless.org you can follow these steps:

  1. Sign up for Kashless, or log in to the site if you already have an account.
  2. Click on the word "Post." This will take you here. This is where you will post the item you want to give away.
  3. Once your item is posted you can check your messages. This is where you can view the messages people who are interested in taking your free item have sent you.
